The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken action against the unauthorized construction of Lal Masjid in Sector G-6. The mosque administration has been asked to halt the construction and remove the structure within 15 days. This land previously housed Jamia Hafsa and the Children’s Library, demolished after a military operation in 2007. An agreement between the government and mosque administration led by Maulana Abdul Aziz had provided an alternative site for the reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa in H-11. The CDA changed the master plan for the G-6 civic center and left the area around the mosque vacant as per the mosque’s request, but now construction has begun prompting the civic agency’s intervention. The mosque administration has been directed to stop the construction within 15 days, or face action from the CDA enforcement directorate. Lal Masjid administration has claimed that they are facing obstacles in construction work at the H-11 site and is urging the government to comply with previous commitments.
