Attempt to smuggle weapons in police custody; weapons found in former Sindh minister’s car.

Karachi: The Jacobabad police has seized a double cabin vehicle used by a former minister of Sindh to transport a large quantity of weapons on the border of Sindh and Balochistan, thwarting the attempt to smuggle weapons. According to sources, a special team of Jacobabad conducted a raid on the border area of Sindh and Balochistan based on a tip-off, successfully preventing the smuggling of weapons and arresting 7 individuals, including 3 police officers and close relatives of an important political figure in Sindh. The seized weapons include Kalashnikovs, rifles, and 2350 rounds of ammunition.

The arrested individuals are reported to be from Shikarpur, and the police mobile seized has the number SPN 375, which is reportedly under the control of a prominent political figure in Sindh. SSP Jacobabad, Saleem Shah, mentioned that the modern weapons were purchased from a dealer in Balochistan and were being transported to Sindh. During the raid, a double cabin vehicle and a police mobile were also confiscated.

SSP Jacobabad further stated that an investigation is underway to determine the ownership of the mobile phone, and a joint interrogation team has been formed, including the DIG and DIG Operations. The arrested individuals include close relatives of an important political figure in Sindh, such as Zakir Bhayo, Nabeel Bhayo, Akhtiar Ali Lashari, and Tofeeq Ahmed Gajjar, as well as police officers Incharge Imtiaz Ali Bhayo, Sanaullah, and Bakhtullah.

The police had planned to hold a press conference regarding the seizure of weapons, but it was postponed due to political interference and the identification of the police mobile.
