Asad Qaiser, the former National Assembly speaker, was re-arrested by Mardan police just after his release from Mardan prison in connection with the May 9 riots. His release was ordered by District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Zaib Khan after he submitted surety bonds of Rs1 million. However, he was re-arrested by the police outside the prison in connection with another case related to the ransacking of a medical store on May 9.
