US law enforcement is currently attempting to locate suspect Robert Card in connection with multiple shootings in Lewiston, Maine. Following the attacks, which resulted in the deaths of over 20 individuals, Maine state police have urged residents to “shelter in place,” marking the deadliest mass shooting in the United States since August 2019. Police reports have provided varying death tolls, ranging from 16 to 22 individuals, with numerous others sustaining injuries. The shootings occurred at Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley on Mollison Way, and Schemengees Bar and Grille Restaurant on Lincoln Street in Lewiston. The Androscoggin County sheriff’s office identified the incidents as an active shooter situation at 8pm, prompting lockdown procedures in the area. Lewiston police later released an image of Card’s SUV found in Lisbon, a town located approximately 8 miles away from Lewiston. Authorities have labeled Card as a “person of interest” and have warned the public that he is armed and dangerous. Additionally, it has been reported that Card had previously made threats regarding a shooting at a National Guard facility in Saco, Maine. Efforts to locate Card are ongoing, and residents in Lewiston, Auburn, and Bowdoin have been advised to shelter in place. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and Homeland Security, are assisting in the investigation and providing support to officials in Maine. A news conference is scheduled for Thursday morning at Lewiston City Hall to address the incident further.
