Eat This with Yara, a documentary program that delves into the relationship between food and society, was honored with the Outstanding Lifestyle Program award at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Hosted by Yara Elmjouie and launched in 2018, the winning episode, “The Awful Truth About ‘No Trespassing’ Signs,” explores the history of trespass laws in the US and features expert forager Alexis Nikole Nelson, also known as “The Black Forager.”

At the Los Angeles Emmy Awards ceremony, Yara Elmjouie accepted the award with executive producer Shadi Rahimi, who displayed a henna tattoo reading “Save Gaza” and briefly held up a sign proclaiming “Killing Journalists Is A War Crime” during the speech. Clips of Elmjouie’s speech have since gone viral on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

The award-winning episode of Eat This with Yara is available on various platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Short clips have also been shared on X, TikTok, and Instagram Reels. The program has previously received accolades such as the James Beard Award, two Webby Awards, and an award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
