Actor Carl Weathers, known for his roles in Hollywood hits like Rocky, Predator, and the Star Wars franchises, has passed away, as reported by several entertainment websites.
According to Deadline magazine, Carl Weathers’ passing was confirmed by his family with a statement.
Weathers’ family has not disclosed a specific cause of death, but it is noted that the actor passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 76.
The family issued a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers. He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts, and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.”
Carl Weathers is best known for his portrayal of Apollo Creed, the heavyweight champion of the world, in the Rocky series. He also starred in the first Predator film with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the late ‘1980s.
Before his rise to fame in Hollywood, Weathers also appeared in films such as Bucktown and Friday Foster.
