MMfD launched a fact-checking tool called ‘Facter’ to combat misinformation and support newsrooms in delivering accurate information. The tool aggregates verified content from various news sources and MMfD’s fact-checking team. Facter operates as a platform and a tool, and is already being adopted by 10 mainstream newsrooms in Pakistan. It employs MMfD’s monitoring team and credible media outlets, as well as the Trends Monitor toolkit for digital investigations. Facter aligns with MMfD’s goal of enabling newsrooms to publish verified, credible information and connect them to relevant content from local fact-checking and media organisations.
