In 1943, a letter was sent to an American couple which finally reached their family after 80 years. The residents of the city of DeKalb in the American state of Illinois, Louis and Leona George, received the letter, which resurfaced recently at the DeKalb post office when an employee decided to search for the members of this family.

The letter was ultimately delivered to the relatives of the couple, Grace Seelazar, residing in the city of Portland in the state of Oregon, who shared the letter with their daughter, Janet George. The letter sent in 1943 included a cousin’s condolences to George on the death of their first daughter, Evelyn.

Janet said that the letter stirred their emotions, as losing a child is a fearsome feeling. The letter made them feel the pain that their parents had gone through before their birth. The postal workers who tracked down the George family said that the reason for the letter not being delivered for so long was due to the address in the letter missing the street name and house number.
