Islamabad: Federal Minister for IT Dr. Omar Saif has said that Pakistan can become a digital highway for the region.
In his statement, Dr. Omar Saif said that China, Russia, and Central Asian countries can benefit from Pakistan’s strategic location. Using this route for digital connectivity will save 100 milliseconds for Europe and Africa.
He said, “Now we have two fiber loops from Kashgar to Karachi. Telecom has set up its first carrier-neutral data center, which will be inaugurated tomorrow.”
The federal minister for IT further said that there are also discussions with China, and it is hoped that Pakistan will receive annual revenues of $200 to $400 million through the transit route as the routes are ready.
