Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has decided to take immediate actions against tax evaders and tax thieves.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a review meeting was held regarding the Track and Trace system. The meeting discussed the current situation of the automated tax system in the industries of sugar, cement, fertilizer, and tobacco, and detailed briefings were given on the obstacles in implementing and fully activating the system.
It was revealed in the meeting that the Track and Trace system is fully operational in 14 major tobacco factories, while 12 factories have been sealed due to non-compliance with the system. In all fertilizer industries, the Track and Trace system is fully functional.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that there are technical challenges in implementing the system in the sugar and cement factories, and steps are being taken to overcome these obstacles.
It was also discussed in the briefing that raids are being conducted on warehouses nationwide to curb smuggling, and the Prime Minister directed the enforcement agencies to collaborate with the FBR in this regard.
The Prime Minister instructed the formation of an inquiry committee to identify obstacles in the path of the Track and Trace system and determine those responsible.
