Some Palestinians are on a quest to uncover the truth about the homes that were taken from their families during the 1948 Nakba. Meet individuals who have returned to their ancestral homes in present-day Israel.

Halima Khaddash, a resident of a refugee camp in Ramallah, traces her family’s roots back to Ramla. Visiting the place stirs up memories of being uprooted from her family home during the catastrophe of 1948.

Zeina Abu Meita’s family hails from the coastal city of Acre. She takes a poignant trip to Acre with her father, who was forced out of their home at the age of six. Despite holding Canadian passports, Zeina and her father, as foreigners, have limited rights to visit Israel and no possibility of permanent residency or return.

The documentary “Return to Palestine” delves into the concept of The Right of Return on the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, a tragic event that resulted in the displacement and marginalization of the Palestinian people.
