A woman in Texas had a terrifying experience while mowing her lawn when she was attacked by both a hawk and a snake. Peggy Jones, the victim of the attack, shared her ordeal with international media.

As Jones was carrying out her garden chore, a snake suddenly fell from the sky and wrapped itself around her arm. In the midst of the chaos, a hawk swooped down and fiercely clawed at her arm, attempting to grab the snake.

In an interview, Jones described the incident, saying, “The snake was squeezing so hard, and I was waving my arms in the air. And then, this hawk was swooping down clawing at my arm over and over.”

The resilient woman continued, “I think the hawk flew down about four times to try and take the snake away.” Eventually, the hawk successfully ripped the snake off and flew away with its prey. Jones’ husband, who heard the commotion, rushed to her aid.

Jones said, “I was yelling and screaming. He didn’t know what I was saying. I thought I was bitten by a snake.” Her husband immediately took her to the hospital, where she received treatment for cuts and bruising from the snake’s grip.

Though she wasn’t bitten, Jones had a close call. She discovered her broken glasses lens with snake venom on it. Remarkably, Jones had previously survived a snake bite and now considers herself incredibly fortunate to have survived this extraordinary incident.

It is unclear what type of snake landed on Jones. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has identified four venomous snakes in the state: coral snakes, copperheads, cottonmouths, and rattlesnakes.
