The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Kot Addu Power Company Limited (KAPCO) have announced their collaboration to rebuild the charred houses of Christians in Jaranwala, which were burnt during a mob attack.

Both WAPDA and KAPCO are in contact with the interim government of Punjab, expressing their solidarity with the affected Christian community by taking responsibility for the reconstruction of their homes.

A comprehensive survey is currently being conducted by WAPDA and KAPCO in coordination with the Punjab government. The purpose of this survey is to assess the extent of the damage and determine the necessary steps for reconstruction.

The WAPDA has also contacted the district administration in order to evaluate the losses incurred. Once the assessment is completed, the rehabilitation of the charred houses will be initiated on a war footing.

It is worth mentioning that the mob attack in Jaranwala, Faisalabad took place due to alleged blasphemy allegations. The incident resulted in the vandalism of multiple churches and the torching of homes belonging to the Christian community.

In response to this horrific event, the Jaranwala police have registered terror cases against more than 600 individuals on August 17. The case was filed in relation to the charges of vandalizing churches and the destruction of homes owned by Christians.

According to the filed FIR, a group consisting of 500-600 people attacked the Christian community, forcibly entered their homes, vandalized their properties, and set fire to their houses and the church building.

WAPDA and KAPCO’s commitment to rebuilding the charred houses reflects their dedication to supporting and standing in solidarity with the Christian community. Their efforts to restore these homes aim to provide comfort and a renewed sense of security to those affected by this traumatic incident.
