Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that Turkey will stand together with South Africa in the genocide case against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

According to a report by the news agency Reuters, speaking at a press conference in Ankara with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Hakan Fidan said that once the legal points are completed, we will request to be a party in the International Court of Justice, with the aim of implementing action on this political decision.

He said that Turkey will continue to support the people of Palestine in all circumstances.

It is worth noting that in a hearing held in response to South Africa’s request in January of this year, the International Court of Justice had ordered Israel to stop the acts of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

South Africa had referred to the International Court of Justice in the ongoing war starting on October 7, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said in January that he is cooperating with the International Court of Justice in providing documents in the case under consideration.

On the other hand, Israel and its Western allies had rejected the acts of genocide as mere allegations, while the final decision on South Africa’s request may take a long time to come.
