Providence: In the ninth match of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, Uganda defeated Papua New Guinea by 3 wickets.
In the Group C match played in Providence, Uganda chased down a target of 78 runs in the 19th over with the loss of 7 wickets.
Riazat Ali Shah shined for Uganda with 33 runs, while Juma Miyagi scored 13, Alpesh Ramjani 8, Simon Ssesazi and Rovman Powell 1 run each, and Denish Nakrani and Roger Mukasa got out without scoring.
For Papua New Guinea, Alei Nao took 2 wickets, while Norman Vanua, Chad Soper, and captain Assad Vala took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, batting first on Uganda’s invitation, Papua New Guinea were bowled out for 77 runs in the 20th over.
For Papua New Guinea, Hiri Hiri scored 15 runs, while Lega Siaka and Kiplin Doriga scored 12 runs each. Sese Bau, Charles Amini, Norman Vanua, Alei Nao, and Chad Soper also contributed with the ball.
