The Supreme Court has criticized the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for its lack of knowledge of its own laws and procedures. The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, observed that Nadra must learn how to define corporate entities and defend litigations according to its own ordinance. The court was deciding on a petition filed against a judgement by the Peshawar High Court. The petition raised objections about the way Nadra was mentioned in the title and criticized the organization for not abiding by its own law. The court also noted that Nadra had caused unnecessary litigation by not issuing a Pakistan Origin Card (POC) to the respondent, which resulted in the filing of a writ petition. The judgement regretted that Nadra did not comply with its own laws and rules, and also criticized the lack of proper assistance provided to the high court.
