The Chief Minister of Sindh has made a significant announcement regarding the reduction of sentences for prisoners in the province. This special remission has been granted under Rule 788 of the Sindh Prisons and Corrections Service Rules, 2019, based on the recommendations of the Inspector General of Prisons, Sindh.

The remission will apply to convicted prisoners who are currently confined in various prisons and correctional facilities in Sindh. However, it is important to note that this remission does not apply to prisoners who have already been granted a special remission in their sentences on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha this year.

Additionally, the remission will not be applied to prisoners convicted of serious crimes such as murder, espionage, subversion, anti-state activities, terrorist activities, rape, kidnapping/abduction, robbery, dacoity, and those serving sentences under the Foreigners Act 1946.

Today, the nation is celebrating Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervor throughout the country, including the twin cities. The national flag can be seen proudly hoisted on main roads and highways in the federal capital, creating a festive atmosphere. Various cultural and literary organizations have also organized special programs to commemorate Independence Day.

On this momentous occasion, the national flag has been hoisted at important public buildings, heritage sites, and monumental buildings across Pakistan. These sites have been beautifully illuminated with colorful lights to celebrate the day and showcase the spirit of patriotism.
