China has reaffirmed its commitment to its friendship with Pakistan and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stating that any attempts to sabotage these strong bonds will not succeed. In response to recent queries during a media briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated, “No attempt to sabotage the friendship between China and Pakistan and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will succeed.”

This statement comes following a recent terrorist attack on a military convoy escorting Chinese workers to a port project in Gwadar. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported among the citizens or military, while two terrorists were killed in response. The Chinese consulate in Karachi confirmed that no Chinese citizens were killed or injured in the attack and urged Pakistan to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects.

Reiterating the safety of Chinese nationals, Wenbin strongly condemned the attack and called for Pakistani authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. He emphasized that the Chinese embassy and consulate immediately activated the emergency response mechanism and reminded Chinese nationals, companies, and project construction teams in Pakistan to be vigilant.

Furthermore, Wenbin stated, “China will continue to work with Pakistan to jointly guard against and counter the threats of terrorism and effectively protect the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.” He also expressed China’s congratulations to Anwaarul Haq Kakar on his appointment as Pakistan’s caretaker premier, affirming that the ironclad friendship between China and Pakistan will remain strong regardless of international or domestic changes.

China is committed to advancing its all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with Pakistan, building a closer China-Pakistan community in the new era, and bringing more benefits to both countries and their people.
