Saim Ayub, the opening batter for Karachi Whites, made headlines with his outstanding century in the Pakistan Cup 2023 match against Rawalpindi on Thursday.

Ayub’s brilliant performance saw him scoring a remarkable 179 runs, which included 11 sixes and 15 fours, against Rawalpindi’s bowling attack.

Karachi Whites emerged victorious in the rain-affected game, winning by 72 runs under the DLS Method. The team posted a huge total of 364-7, largely thanks to Ayub’s stunning century.

His score of 179 runs from 125 balls is the highest individual score in this edition of the competition.

Asad Shafiq also contributed to the team’s total with a half-century, scoring 57 runs from 43 balls.

Seven Rawalpindi bowlers managed to take one wicket each, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the team.

Rawalpindi, chasing a target of 365 runs, were at 169-5 in 27 overs before the match was interrupted by rain. Karachi Whites were declared the winners as the hosts were 72 runs behind the DLS par score.

Abdul Faseeh’s performance stood out with his 54 runs from 45 balls, including nine fours and a six. Umar Amin also contributed with a quick 44 runs from 27 balls, including five fours and two sixes.

Left-arm spinner Noman Ali took three wickets for Karachi Whites, while Asad Shafiq picked up two wickets.
