Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed readiness to provide assistance to ease the suffering of civilians in Gaza and de-escalate the conflict. Russia has also proposed an international monitoring mission to monitor the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The Kremlin stated that Putin reaffirmed Russia’s rejection and condemnation of terrorism while emphasizing the importance of minimizing the impact on civilians during counter-terrorism efforts.

Russia supported a UN Security Council resolution for a Gaza ceasefire, which was vetoed by the United States. The death toll in Gaza has risen to over 17,700, with thousands more wounded in Israeli attacks. Hamas has stated that Israeli captives will not be released by military force and called for negotiations.

The United Nations resolution demanding a humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza was vetoed by the United States, despite the majority of Security Council members and other nations supporting it. Israel declared war on Hamas following attacks that resulted in significant casualties and hostages. The conflict has resulted in widespread devastation and the displacement of civilians in Gaza. International aid groups have condemned the situation, stating that nowhere is safe for civilians in Gaza.

The violence in Gaza has been described as one of the worst assaults on a civilian population in modern times. Gazans have been fleeing to escape the Israeli offensive, while the UN and aid agencies continue to highlight the dire humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict.
