PPP members booked for election violence, with MPA-elect among those charged in Karachi – Pakistan

Two Pakistan Peoples Party candidates, Hafiz Abdul Bar and Ali Ahmed Jan, have been accused of storming into a polling station in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Feb 8, attacking security personnel, holding polling staff hostage and threatening them. The case was registered against them on a complaint of an official of the paramilitary force. The police have lodged a terrorism FIR against the PPP candidates for NA-244 and PS-116. The suspects and their unidentified supporters are facing charges under the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident so far.
