A setback for the Pakistan People’s Party in the Alipur/Jatoi areas of Muzaffargarh district as former provincial minister Haroon Sultan Bukhari has severed ties with the party after joining one year ago. He has now switched allegiance to the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) and secured a ticket from the party for NA-177 and PP-272. This development has deprived the PPP of considering other suitable candidates from influential families in the area. Mr Bukhari had joined the PPP in March last year after a meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari in Lahore. With Mr Bukhari’s departure, the area does not have a PPP candidate for the upcoming elections.
