A man is being questioned by Indian police after a homemade bomb exploded at a convention center in Kerala state on Sunday, where a Christian group was holding a prayer meeting. The bomb killed a woman and injured several others. The man, a native of Kochi, surrendered in the southern state’s Thrissur district and will undergo further interrogation by senior police officials. The police and other agencies are investigating the incident, which took place during a Jehovah’s Witnesses convention. Local media reported that over 2,000 people were in attendance. Preliminary investigations suggest that an improvised explosive device was used. The police are treating the incident seriously and a special investigations team has been appointed. The National Security Guard is also sending a team to assist with the investigation. The Jehovah’s Witnesses group has approximately 60,000 followers in India.
