Police have conducted raids on the residences of PIA CBA People’s Unity leaders in response to their involvement in protests against privatization and for salary raises. The raids took place in PIA Township and involved the presence of airline security officers.

Following the protests, the PIA administration has filed cases against the protesting PIA employees. During the raids, police and airport security officials thoroughly searched the houses of the individuals involved.

As reported on Friday, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) administration has decided to take legal action against the employees who have been protesting against the privatization of the national flag carrier and demanding salary raises.

This action has been initiated in response to alleged violations of the Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1952, which was imposed in May. It has been stated that negligence in performing designated tasks will be considered a crime under this act.

The Essential Services Act prohibits employees from gathering crowds, staging protests, or organizing sit-ins.

Prior to the raids, the office of the PIA Senior Officers Association (SSA) was sealed by the PIA administration due to its involvement in protests against privatization, bifurcation, and demands for salary raises.

In recent developments, PIA employees have staged protests against the proposed privatization of the airline, demanding that their charter of demands be approved by higher authorities.

The situation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
