The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a rain alert in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and urged all concerned authorities to take necessary precautions to minimize human and material losses during the rainy season.

Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts have been advised to stay vigilant and implement precautionary measures. Additionally, relevant departments have been instructed to prepare for road restoration and provide alternative routes for traffic in case of any damages caused by the rains.

Recent heavy rains in KP have resulted in unfortunate incidents, with nine fatalities reported and eight others injured, according to the Provincial Disaster Management’s report. Furthermore, floods and heavy rains have partially damaged 37 houses and completely destroyed seven others across the province.

The Relief Department has already provided relief materials to the affected families in Upper Chitral, and a detailed assessment of the damage will be initiated once the floodwaters recede in Lower Chitral, as stated by the department spokesperson.

In order to ensure the safety of the general public, the PDMA has issued a letter to all relevant institutions and district administrations, emphasizing the importance of taking precautionary measures against rain, flash floods, urban flooding, and river flooding.
