Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar responded to recent accusations made by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) by stating that the “victim card” could be used as a narrative for any political party. In an exclusive interview on the Geo News programme Jirga, Kakar stated that the caretaker government’s top priority is to conduct elections at the earliest and ensure that the people can choose their representatives in the upcoming elections scheduled for Feb 8 next year. He emphasized the caretaker government’s commitment to handing over responsibilities to the elected government and questioned the accusations made against his government’s bias towards political parties. Kakar defended the lawful arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan and urged for careful consideration before making allegations. He also dismissed reports claiming a threat to Mr Khan’s life, stating that the government has a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of the incarcerated leader.
