The ISI has suggested that ordinary individuals or hackers could be behind the recent audio leaks involving politicians, judges, and their relatives. The agency submitted a report to the Islamabad High Court, stating that there are various tools and paid services available for audio recording and data extraction from smartphones. It also mentioned the use of Artificial Intelligence to alter voices and conversations. The report highlighted encryption as a significant barrier in tracing the source of the leaks and recommended that the FIA’s cybercrimes wing take further action. The court has also involved mobile and fixed-line service providers, as well as media associations, in the case. The report was submitted after the IHC summoned the directors general of the FIA and IB to present reports on the audio leaks.
