Former American President Donald Trump defeated Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley in her home state of South Carolina.

According to international news agency AFP, Donald Trump received 60% of the votes while Haley received 40%. After his success in Carolina, the path has cleared for Trump to secure his third presidential nomination.

At this occasion, the former American President said, “I just want to say that I have never seen the Republican Party as united as it is now.”

Donald Trump told his supporters in Columbia that “This is a fantastic evening.” On the other hand, Nikki Haley, who faced defeat, addressed her supporters in Charleston, saying, “Despite experiencing four consecutive defeats, I will not be discouraged from the race of elections. Donald Trump is incapable of defeating Biden in the general elections.”

It should be noted that Donald Trump has already had success in the primary elections in Iowa, New Hampshire, and US Virgin Islands. In the United States, political parties nominate their candidates for the presidency through inter-party elections at the local level, known as primaries.
