Germany has agreed to hand over a Patriot air defense system and missiles to Ukraine to help defend against Russian attacks on its energy system, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The decision comes at a critical time as Russia continues its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the additional support, calling on other partner states to follow suit.

Germany will deliver the Patriot system immediately, making it the third such system provided by Germany to Ukraine. This comes as Ukraine faces escalating attacks on the eastern front, with Russia claiming the capture of a village near Avdiivka. Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, Oleksandr Syrskii, noted a significant deterioration in the situation on the eastern front, with increased enemy offensives following Russia’s recent presidential elections.

In a separate incident, a shelling in Zaporizhia region blamed on Ukraine by a local official resulted in the deaths of 10 people, including children. The town of Chasiv Yar also remains under constant fire, with Russia attacking the region multiple times. Despite the challenges, Ukraine continues to resist Russian advances and defend its territory.
