Microsoft’s CEO confirms Russia is spreading disinformation in the Middle East – Technology Sector

The president of Microsoft, Brad Smith, accused Russia of spreading “disinformation” about the situation in the Middle East, specifically regarding the Israel-Hamas war. Speaking at an international peace forum in Paris, Smith highlighted the role of Microsoft and other tech companies in combating disinformation using tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI). He pointed to Russia’s attempts to discourage people from getting the Covid vaccine as an example of their disinformation campaign and also mentioned their activities in the Middle East. The Paris Peace Forum took place amidst escalating conflict, including the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at the forum, condemned Hamas attacks but also urged Israel to stop bombing civilians in Gaza, emphasizing the impact on innocent lives.
