Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s star javelin thrower, has appealed for improved sports training facilities in the country. After winning the silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Arshad arrived in Lahore to a warm welcome at the Allama Iqbal Airport.

Expressing his pride in representing his nation, Arshad spoke to reporters about the need for better training facilities in Pakistan. He highlighted the lack of a single stadium dedicated to training and emphasized the importance of adequate facilities and support to bring success to Pakistan.

Arshad came close to winning the gold medal in Hungary, missing out by a mere 35 centimeters. He believes that with the right facilities, he has the potential to secure gold at the Paris Olympics next year.

In addition to training facilities, Arshad also raised concerns about the allowances provided to athletes. He questioned how it was possible to arrange three nutritious meals with such meager allowances. This highlights the financial challenges faced by athletes in Pakistan.

Despite these obstacles, Arshad has managed to overcome adversity and excel on the international stage. The World Athletics Championships marked his comeback after a year of recovery from an elbow surgery. He expressed gratitude towards the people of Pakistan for their support and encouragement. Arshad also acknowledged the Athletics Federation of Pakistan and Pakistan Sports Board for their cooperation in his preparation for the event.

Arshad Nadeem’s journey serves as an inspiration, demonstrating the talent and determination of Pakistani athletes. It is imperative for authorities to prioritize the development of proper training infrastructure and financial support to enable athletes like Arshad to reach their full potential and bring glory to the nation in international competitions.
