Israeli Children Celebrate Gaza Genocide in Israel-Palestine Conflict: A Sadly Familiar Sight

In November, a video surfaced on Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan’s official X page. The video featured Israeli children singing a song celebrating their country’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. After widespread backlash, the video was deleted but the controversy remained. An analysis of Israeli literature and curricula has shown an indoctrination of the country’s children to dehumanize Palestinians, leading to videos of them celebrating genocide. This is evident from scholarly works and even official textbooks approved by the Israeli Ministry of Education. The narrative of Israeli children’s literature, textbooks, and even historical context has been shown to dehumanize Palestinians and paint Israelis as victims, leading to widespread belief among Israeli children that aggression against Palestinians is justifiable. Such indoctrination has led to widespread support for apartheid and occupation of Palestine. Even recent studies show that little has changed, as Israeli school books still demonize Palestinians and simplify history to benefit Israelis. These narratives have led to a disturbing lack of empathy among Israeli youth towards Palestinians, as evidenced by their apparent support for aggressive actions and violence against them.
