Thousands of Afghans are hiding in Pakistan to avoid expulsion due to fears of persecution under the Taliban. They fear being sent back due to converting to Christianity, belonging to a persecuted community in Afghanistan, or pursuing careers that are not accepted under Taliban rule. Human rights activists are trying to halt the deportation program, but the government has shown little willingness to reconsider.
