During a televised speech on Wednesday, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah condemned the killing of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri in a strike in Beirut, calling it a “major, dangerous crime” for which he blamed Israel. Nasrallah offered his condolences to Hamas for what he described as a “flagrant Israeli aggression.” The strike, which hit the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh, prompted Nasrallah to warn that there would be “no ceilings” and “no rules” to fighting by Hezbollah if Israel launches a war on Lebanon. Nasrallah also asserted that Hezbollah’s swift action on October 8 and the subsequent cross-border shelling had prevented a broader bombing campaign by Israel. He emphasized that the fighting in southern Lebanon will continue and if Israel decides to launch a full-scale offensive, Hezbollah will fight back with its full military capabilities.
