A distressing incident unfolded in the peaceful city of Lahore when armed dacoits targeted a house in Model Town, robbing a foreign woman of her valuables. The culprits, arriving on a motorcycle without a number plate, took the woman hostage and proceeded to loot US dollars, expensive wristwatches, and gold items from the cupboard. After committing the crime, they fled the scene, leaving the victim traumatized.
Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the incident, with the crime scene unit and a forensic team gathering evidence from the house. A case was registered based on the woman’s complaint, and an investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. In Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), renowned artist Riaz Rafi’s house was targeted by armed robbers in January. They made away with cash, foreign currency, and gold ornaments worth millions. The incident took place in Riaz Rafi’s apartment in DHA Phase V.
The artist shared that the robbers looted approximately 45 tola gold, worth more than Rs8.3 million, along with Rs1.7 million worth of US dollars and Rs0.7 million worth of pounds. Additionally, the robbers seized Rs1.5 lakh in cash, a chequebook, ATM card, and four valuable watches worth millions during the robbery.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of personal safety and vigilance, regardless of one’s location. It is crucial for residents and visitors alike to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, report any suspicious activities, and take necessary precautions to ensure their well-being. Authorities must also take proactive measures to strengthen security and enhance the safety of the community.
Together, we can create an environment where incidents like these become rare and people can feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods.
