Dr Saveera Parkash, a member of the Hindu community, has submitted her nomination papers to stand in the upcoming general elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Buner district. She is aiming to contest on a PPP ticket and is set to become the first woman minority candidate to do so in the area. Parkash, a recent MBBS graduate and general secretary of the PPP women’s wing in Buner, is hopeful of working for the welfare of women in the area and breaking stereotypes. The ECP’s recent amendments mandate a five per cent inclusion of women candidates on general seats.
