The Lahore police defied pressure from religious groups and lodged an FIR against individuals who harassed a woman wearing a shirt with Arabic-script print in Ichhra Bazaar. The mob accused her of blasphemy, endangering her life. A woman police officer, ASP Syeda Sheharbano Naqvi, heroically rescued the woman, despite pressure to not register an FIR. The Punjab government supported the police in taking action against the miscreants, showing zero tolerance for such incidents.

The police sealed the FIR and referred the case to the investigation wing for further action. While ASP Naqvi was praised for her bravery, other officers, including SHO Mohammad Bilal Aarbi and SP Irtaza Komail, also played a crucial role in engaging the mob for an hour to ensure the woman’s safety. Despite their efforts, they have not been officially appreciated. The police authorities ignored their contributions, further highlighting the need for recognition of their heroism.
