The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) recently questioned Imran Khan, the detained PTI chief, in Attock Jail regarding a case involving a diplomatic cable that allegedly went missing from his possession. The FIA’s counter-terrorism wing has registered a case related to the missing cipher, which reportedly disappeared from the official records of the Prime Minister’s Office.

A six-member joint investigation team, led by FIA Deputy Director Ayaz Khan, met with Imran Khan in the office of the jail’s deputy superintendent and conducted an hour-long interrogation session. The cipher in question is the same document that Imran Khan presented during an Islamabad rally last year before being ousted from power.

Imran Khan claimed that the missing cipher served as proof of a US-backed conspiracy to remove him from office due to his stance on Russia. However, after a purported copy of the secret cable was leaked by a US news outlet, many individuals from the previous government have accused Imran Khan of being the source of the leak.

Initially, the FIA was investigating Imran Khan for disclosing the contents of a confidential diplomatic cable and retaining possession of it. However, after former principal secretary Azam Khan revealed that the cipher went missing from Imran Khan’s custody, the investigation agency began looking into this aspect as well.

According to Azam Khan’s statement, he handed over the cipher to Imran Khan, who later claimed to have misplaced it and did not return it despite repeated requests.
