Authorities have confirmed that an oil leak caused a multi-car pileup in the Beheira region of Egypt. The tragic accident resulted in the death of at least 32 people, with over 60 others injured, according to the country’s health ministry. The collision occurred in the morning fog when a passenger bus crashed into a parked vehicle on the highway connecting Cairo and Alexandria. Subsequently, other cars collided with the bus, some of which caught fire. The incident took place near Wadi al-Natroun, approximately 160 km north of Cairo. Images shared on social media portrayed the charred wreckage of vehicles and an overturned truck. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority had issued warnings about heavy fog on highways prior to the accident. Egypt has been working on improving its road infrastructure in recent years, but fatal road crashes remain a significant issue, often attributable to reckless driving and poor road conditions.
