The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ruled that caretaker Federal Minister for Privatisation and Inter-Provincial Coordination Fawad Hasan Fawad will remain in his position, rejecting a petition seeking his removal. The petition, filed in October, had sought the removal of “biased” members from the federal cabinet to ensure fair and transparent general elections in February. This decision comes after the ECP ordered the removal of Adviser to the Prime Minister on Establishment Ahad Cheema from his post in the same case. The ECP stated that Fawad’s role does not have a significant impact on the electoral process and that the petitioner’s contentions lack substantial evidence. Therefore, the petition was rejected.
