The Israeli embassy in South Korea has removed a video from its social media channels that depicted a hypothetical abduction of a mother in Seoul after objections were raised by the South Korean government. The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs confirmed that they had asked the embassy to take down the video, stating that the embassy’s use of the footage to draw parallels to the security situation in another country was deemed inappropriate.
The video, which showed a South Korean woman being abducted in the capital city on Christmas Day, was described as likening the assailants to Hamas and was accompanied by details of a Hamas attack on southern Israel. The Israeli embassy said that the video was meant to help South Koreans understand the current war situation, but the South Korean government found it inappropriate and asked for its removal.
The video has since been deleted, and the Israeli embassy in South Korea has taken measures to address the situation.
