The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has not yet released the final list of candidates for the general elections, which are just three weeks away. The commission was supposed to issue the final allocation of electoral symbols to candidates on January 13, as per the schedule, but as of now, the list has not been issued. The ECP has cited pending court cases as the reason for this delay and has warned that the polls might have to be delayed if there continue to be orders for changing the election symbols already allocated to candidates. There has been a significant increase in the number of candidates for the upcoming general elections, with a total of 18,059 in the run compared to 11,700 candidates in the 2018 polls. The delay in the release of the final list of candidates and the issue of election symbols has led to concerns and allegations from various political parties and candidates.
