David Warner has announced his retirement from both Test and ODI cricket in order to spend more time with his family. The 37-year-old, who played a key role in Australia’s World Cup victory in India, will play his final Test match against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He also stated that he is retiring from one-day cricket. However, he has left the door open to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy if needed. Warner has had a successful ODI career, scoring 22 centuries and 6,932 runs over 161 matches. Despite his retirement from the longer format of the game, he remains available for T20 cricket and is hopeful of playing in the T20 World Cup. Warner will also continue to play franchise cricket, seeking permission to participate in tournaments in the United Arab Emirates and the Indian Premier League. Overall, his retirement has come as a surprise and he leaves a formidable legacy in Australian cricket.
