An Iran-linked group called Predatory Sparrow has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack that disrupted services at around 70 percent of Iran’s fuel stations. The group stated that the attack was carried out in a controlled manner to avoid potential damage to emergency services. Iran’s civil defence agency is currently investigating the disruption and considering all possible causes. This incident marks the first fuel outage since 2021, when a major cyberattack in Iran disrupted the sale of fuel, causing long queues at stations across the country. Fuel stations in Tehran have been forced to operate their pumps manually, and the Oil Minister stated that at least 30 percent of gas stations are working. Although there is no fuel supply shortage, drivers have been advised to avoid going to fuel stations. Israel has not yet commented on the cyberattack.
