Customs seizes goods valued at Rs19bn – Business

The Customs Intelligence Directorate has confiscated goods worth a total of Rs18.906 billion in a major operation targeting smuggling and mis-invoicing. The interim government’s strong stance against illegal trade practices is evident in these stringent measures taken since September. The directorate seized goods valued at Rs14.981 billion and registered contravention cases amounting to Rs3.925 billion during the same period. Significant seizures were made across the country, with Punjab leading in confiscating smuggled goods worth Rs5.886 billion, followed by Sindh at Rs5.038 billion, Balochistan at Rs2.823 billion, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Rs1.234 billion. The seized items include a variety of goods such as miscellaneous items, cigarettes, vehicles, auto parts, betel nuts, petrol, fabrics, electronic goods, gutka, diesel, and tyres.
