Karachi: Dawood Engineering University has decided to transfer its Faculty of Information and Computer Science to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed School in Federal B Area, and a formal agreement has been reached with the Gulberg Town administration in this regard.
Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed School in Federal B Area is under the jurisdiction of the local government in Karachi and has been vacant for enrollment for several years, with the teaching activities suspended. Subsequently, an agreement was reached between the university administration and the Gulberg Town administration, and under the agreement, this school has been handed over to Dawood Engineering University.
Dawood Engineering University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Samreen Hussain, told Express that as per the agreement, the school building has been handed over to the university for educational and teaching purposes for a period of 10 years, with the possibility of renewal.
According to Dr. Samreen Hussain, the current campus of the university’s Faculty is limited in space, which is why the classes and laboratories are below the required number.
She said that the mentioned school covers an area of 3 acres and it is the responsibility of the university to construct, maintain, decorate, and arrange facilities for the establishment of the Faculty, after which the Faculty will be transferred to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed School along with all relevant equipment and supplies, and classes of the Faculty of Information and Computer Science will be held in the same school from the next session.
It should be noted that under this Faculty, programs in BS Computer Science, BS Artificial Intelligence, BS Cyber Security, and BA Data Sciences will be conducted in the mentioned school, as an agreement has been reached between Dawood Engineering University and Gulberg Town.
Town Administrator Nasratullah, Vice Chancellor of Engineering Professor Dr. Samreen Hussain, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Central District Farooq Naematullah, former student of Sir Syed University and Member of Provincial Assembly Adil Askari, Director Education Muhammad Nadim Hanif, and others were present at the time.
