The Minister of Energy, Murtaza Solangi, has stated that consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding relief in electricity bills are currently ongoing. The Prime Minister has directed relevant stakeholders to engage in these discussions, and a clear position on the matter will be established within a few days.

Solangi emphasized that energy-saving measures are being considered due to the multiple factors contributing to the prevailing energy crisis. The caretaker government, despite having limited mandate and tenure, aims to cooperate with all political parties in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in the country.

Instead of criticizing, Solangi stated that their main objective is to play a role in resolving issues. The caretaker government is committed to assisting the Election Commission of Pakistan in conducting the elections according to the scheduled timeline.

While highlighting the government’s responsibility to protect the constitution, Solangi affirmed that peaceful protests and freedom of expression are fundamental rights. In response to a query, he pointed out that the Election Commission has the authority, as per Article 218(3) of the Constitution, to conduct impartial and fair elections in Pakistan. The caretaker government will provide all possible assistance in this regard.
