The chief of Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) and general secretary of Jamaat-i-Islami in Balochistan, Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, was detained by local authorities in an attempt to prevent him from visiting the border town of Chaman. His planned visit was to show support for the ongoing sit-in protest against the government’s new Afghan border crossing policy. Despite being under house arrest for over 24 hours, the party maintains that it will continue to uphold law and order.
