Kharian: The mother of the 18-year-old girl who was murdered in Italy in the name of honor and the government had issued a wanted advertisement for the suspect, has been arrested by the Punjab Police in Kharian. The police revealed that the arrested suspect Nazia Shahin was wanted by the Italian government in the murder case and she was arrested by the Gujranwala Region Police and in this regard, Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Osman Anwar had assigned the task to RPO Gujranwala Taib Hafeez Cheema.
It was said in the statement that a special police team was formed by the Gujranwala Region Police for the arrest of the wanted suspect and the police team arrested the suspect from Kharian. RPO Gujranwala Taib Hafeez Cheema said that in 2021, 18-year-old Samin Abbas, who was killed by her family in Italy, was wanted for three years. The police revealed that the suspect Nazia Shahin was transferred to Islamabad after her arrest.
It should be remembered that the Italian-Pakistani girl went missing on April 30, 2021, from the city of Reggio Emilia in Italy and her body was found in November 2022, while her mother, 51-year-old Nazia Shahin, fled from Italy with her husband after the murder and red warrants were issued for her arrest. In August 2023, Punjab Police had arrested the suspect’s husband, Shabir Abbas, and handed him over to the Italian government, who is currently serving his sentence for his crime in Italy.
