Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Afghan foreign minister, has temporarily assumed the role of deputy prime minister, according to Islamic Emirate’s Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid. The current political deputy prime minister, Maulvi Abdul Kabir, has been absent from meetings for nearly three months due to illness. Hassan Haqyar, the media directorate head at the deputy PM office, expressed hope that Mr. Kabir would return to his duties soon. Some Afghan sources have called for more transparency from the government regarding the attendance and absence of officials, especially in meetings with representatives of other countries. Kamran Aman also urged the Islamic Emirate to openly communicate every issue to the nation in order to remove propaganda and worries.
